The successful candidate in this Director level position will be responsible for providing legal services, support and guidance to the company, its subsidiaries and affiliates on product, sales, marketing and regulatory compliance matters. The candidate will provide legal advice and counsel to all levels of company leadership.

Job duties may include but are not limited to:
• Sales and marketing legal support for commercial (public and private sector) and Medicare Advantage health insurance product offerings.
• Legal support and guidance regarding insurance products for the individual and group markets including product contract development and benefit design.
• Legal support and guidance regarding alternative funding arrangements, compensation structure and agent incentive plans, telemarketing/electronic marketing, retail capabilities and compliance.
• Management of sales/marketing issues and disputes prior to the initiation of litigation or arbitration if applicable.
• Ancillary product (life, long-term care, dental, disability, etc.) and Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance matters.
• Review and/or draft legal documents.
• Manage legal matters or projects with the supervision of other more senior attorneys.
• May also be asked to assume additional responsibilities as requested by management.

Job Requirements:
• Graduate of an accredited law school with strong academic record and three to seven years of professional experience. Such professional experience can be in-house or at a law firm and can be on behalf of insurance organizations or related entities.
• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and admission to at least one state bar. If bar admission is in a state other than Florida, then the ability to be certified in Florida as Authorized House Counsel.
• Experience with sales/marketing contracts, multiple distribution channels, federal and state regulatory matters, insurance product marketing, agent licensure and compliance matters.
• Experience with and application of health insurance and managed care laws, regulations and compliance standards.
• General knowledge of corporate and commercial law. Demonstrated experience developing legal strategies and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
• Demonstrated initiative and self-starter.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and develop and maintain strong interpersonal relationships at all levels throughout the organization.

Preferred skills:
• Intimate working knowledge of Affordable Care Act.
• Working knowledge of ERISA in the health insurance context.
• Experience working with state and federal regulators.
