The Operationalized Governance Business Lead position will focus on establishing and ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards and practices. With the purpose of achieving the required level of data quality and consistency to meet overall business needs.

 

The Purpose of Your Role

  •       Lead and manage all enterprise data related activities and have responsibility for improving the quality of and value of core data assets, as well as support the strategic requirements of the business

  •       Develop and manage the definitions of business terms and associated metadata

  •       Identify and resolve data governance issues

  •       Update or create data policies

  •       Align data ownership and accountability

  •       Measure/monitor adherence to data governance standards

  •       Engage with IT and business unit staff to investigate, understand and document data/metadata needs, insights, issues, and opportunities

  •       Develop recommendations and drive improvements to data policies, standards, processes, definitions, and/or tools

  •       Build out and lead a team to develop a mechanism for governing all data-related functions, including quality, security, and technology and then support the function as an on-going component of the broader enterprise data strategy

  •      Establish and maintain data ownership and stewardship roles, responsibilities, and processed

  •      Architect, build, and support a common data and analytics platform integrating new and existing data sources and eliminating silos

 

 

The Value You Deliver

 

  • Establish and govern an enterprise data governance implementation road-map including strategic priorities for development of information-based capabilities
  • Roll out an enterprise data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality and the protection of sensitive data through modifications to data policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools and data architecture
  • Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and services and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company’s principal data assets
  • Develop & maintain data inventory of the enterprise information maps, including systems of record and data owners
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the enterprise
  • Define indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements
  • Implement monitoring, reporting, and dashboard materials that will present the current state of performance for operationalized governance
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in data quality and governance

 

The Skills You Bring


  • Proven experience in understanding and managing data related service and governance
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with business users and senior-level management to determine data needs and effective delivery methods
  • Familiarity with traditional and emerging database technologies including data virtualization tools, cloud technologies, and big data architecture
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance multiple tasks with high attention to details
  • Communicates Effectively – adapts approach to audience, listens attentively and actively, and can communicate in multiple methods
  • Organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to build solid relationships with stakeholders and colleagues
  • Up-to-date knowledge of technical applications
  • Manages Complexity - ability to adapt and prioritize, see root causes and think ahead
  • Drives Results - ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while setting high standards

 

Required Skills:

  • 8+ years related work experience or equivalent combination of transferable experience and education.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience 
  • Strong understanding of operational and risk metrics 
  • Track record of balancing multiple projects with cross-enterprise dependencies


 

Preferred Skills:

  • Master’s degree Information Systems, Computer Science or a similar technical field
  • Experience within the healthcare industry
  • Strong business knowledge and ability to influence across business functions
  • Ability to translate and articulate quantitative and qualitative findings into actionable strategies
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization
